I liked it because it exposed my imagination to more. 13 years later, I read this book again this time it made me think about me, my perspective about sex, about my life, my partner. This book teaches not only about love to self, but give without the expectation of receiving. It liberates your mind of what we grow to think we have to expect. I could read this book a third time and probably find a different lesson.

Soy admiradora de la obra de Paulo Coelho, he leido varios de sus libros y este ha sido uno de los que mas me ha gustado. Es un libro que trata un tema fuerte y nos abre una ventana donde podemos mirar, quizas desde otro angulo, la realidad de las mujeres que practican "la profecion mas antigua del mundo"Es un libro interesante, puedo decir que diferente a otras obras de Coelho, pues la mayoria de ellas te llevan a un viaje interior donde puedes evaluarte como persona. En Once Minutos, sin embargo, se narra la historia de una mujer, que bien puede ser la historia de cualquier mujer que ande por el mundo, con la que hablemos a diario, alguien quien supuestamente conozcamos y sin embargo no sepamos que tiene una doble vida, un pasado oculto.Sin embargo, hasta la persona con el mas negro de los pasados puede redimirse si asi lo desea y nosotros como sociedad no debemos juzgar a nadie, por el contrario debemos permitir que esos que han decidido cambiar lo hagan y sean de alguna manera, felices.Es un buen libro, comprenlo, no se arrepentiran.

Me encanta leer los libros de Paulo Coelho, es como sentarse a platicar con el escritor, en este breve curso de sexologia, historia de amor y fantasia, la protagonista va del cielo al infierno por dinero, atraves del sexo; pero en esa experiencia se encuentra ella misma y se vuelve autÃ©ntica, lo que hace, que el varÃ³n se sienta atraÃdo no solo por la belleza de la chica sino por lo que ve detras de la belleza fÃsica.Mi cama, mi mÃºsica y mi libro Once minutos.FelÃz

"Ã‰rase una vez una prostituta llamada MarÃa.....". De esta forma tan original , Paulo Coelho nos narra la historia de MarÃa; como siempre el autor nos sorprende, con un libro muy original, profundo y diferente; nos habla de sexo pero no escandaliza, describe situaciones, sentimientos y sensaciones de una manera real pero poÃ©tica... como siempre el autor me deja maravillada con su excelente trabajo en Once Minutos, confieso haberla leÃdo mas de una vez, y no me cansarÃa de leerla de nuevo!!!!

Es completemente diferente de todos los otros libros por Coelho. Es cierto que no hay nada de lo espiritual en este libro. El cuento es de una prostituta de Brazil sobreviviendo en Suiza y como ella ve el mundo. Es interesante leer como ella cambia su actitud y opiniones acerca de la vida y lo que ella puede esperar y tener en su vida. Usa hombres y sus expectativas son bajas pero al fin de libro todo cambia.

I think this story was written as an obligation due to the popularity of the theme ( sex ) brought by books like "50 shades of Grey ". It goes to fast on some places and to slow in others. It could have been better considering the quality of literature that Mr Coelho got us accustomed. From 1 to 10, It's a 6, Skipped. Paulo go so may and much better stories to tell.

This is a poorly written novel. The first book was good, though not great, and was interesting enough to get me to try this second effort.What a disappointment. Other reviewers have touched on his ham-handed attempts to describe sexuality, and I am in full agreement. It reads like a 10-year old boy's attempt to describe his pre-pubescent fantasies. Just awful. However, this is not what made me put the book down before I finished it. Incidentally, this is only the second time in my life I have done that, and I am not a young man. What made me give up was his OBVIOUS parallel drawn between the fallen angels and the current presidential administration, and democrats in general. He even uses some of the same buzzwords used by the current administration when writing dialogue for the fallen.For the record, I'm a registered republican.I'm also a Christian. I wanted desperately for this to be a good book, as the first one was not bad. Now I'm off to find another book to read, sadly. It seems that many Christian authors are going the same way as many Christian filmmakers. Producing poorly written movies or books and expecting the Christian community to just accept it.I don't. This is a badly written book. I am only giving it 1 start because, at least, it directs people to the Word of God.

Great Story telling, its a page turner. Godawa takes the Biblical account, with Extra Biblical accounts and also accounts from accent History and he weaves a wonderful mythical story that leads us to many truths of scripture. While the book is basically myth it is filled with much truth and I highly recommend it.Chronicles of the Nephilim Series by Brian Godawa is a Wonderful, Amazing Adventure series based on the Bible. We get the Biblical Narrative as well as many ancient beliefs and myths (Babylonian, Assyrian, Philistine, etc.,) all put together in a wonderful coherent story that stays true to Biblical narrative and at the same time is a fast paced action packed adventure drama with superheros and super villains deluxe.In a way this is like Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, but instead of taking biblical truths and setting them to a myth it takes the Biblical stories and fills in the blanks with "myths". Godawa takes mythical concepts and makes them real in the books such as Leviathan and Rahab. But he has done his research and this fictional story may be closer to the truth then many expect.Godawa deals with Angels, Fallen Angels, Nephilim, The Giants in Scriptures, Demons, Giant Slayers, etc., There are additional pages of special appendixes that provide an explanation of Biblical concepts all 7 novel's such as the Divine Council, the Nephilim, Leviathan, and the ancient Mesopotamian Cosmography in the Bible, Number of Israelites who left Egypt, Styers, Dragons, etc.,IF you like Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, Harry Potter, really any fantasy writings you will like this as well. This is an adult series though. Not for the very young. I really hope they make the whole series into movies.

Some of the best I have read. I love the fact that the last part of the book gives you the Biblical and historical reasons why Brian chose to give his characters the personalities they have and also why he creates the story content. I enjoy this almost as much as the story. Got the set of 8 for Chrismas and have 2 read by mid January. I really have to pace myself, because once I start reading, I am driven to finish because they have you so on edge. I am sure I will be reading more of his books once I complete these.

Noah Primeval was much better - more sophisticated. It made me wonder at first, if that was written much later ... I also found the sexual innuendos totally unnecessary. They bothered me in Noah, but was able to skim past them. But now I see it only intensifies as the series goes on. Of course they had sex ... they had children. We have imaginations ... and can imagine it - much better than what Mr. Godawa can paint for us. I don't know --- kinda ruined it for me. I probably won't read any more, which makes me sad ... Oh well

I have read my copy at least a dozen times, and find new nuggets each time. If you are seeing "follow the white rabbit" on your screen, this book could change your life.

The content is great, the core teachings of Science of Mind without all the extra words. And, sadly, the font size is uncomfortably small. I won't bother returning it because I only paid $2.45; however, I will likely look for another version with a larger font size.

Ernest Holmes' Creative Mind and Success is a little gem of a book. Not only will reading and re-reading it give you the good stuff for your mind that'll help propel you to success -- but the book proves you don't have to write a ton of verbiage to be profound. And you, as a consumer, can save thousands of dollars in motivational training by just reading THIS small book. Holme's main point is that "your thought decides whether your business shall be a success or a failure." Why? Because "Life is from within outward and never from without inward." Our thoughts DO influence what we become and how we fare. Holme's wrote this book in 1919 and wrote the foward to its reprinting in 1957 -- and it is as good as ever. And...no...I'm not a card-carrying member of his church (with a name like "Gandelman" -- guess!). But I've learned (the HARD WAY) that the motivational speakers and motivational/spiritual writers are CORRECT: how we view things, what we verbally and mentally affirm and what and how we pray (affirmation is actually a form of prayer so if you don't like to pray and you do affirmations, you're basically doing it) DOES HAVE AN IMPACT. If I don't do it and go into a downward spiral, I STAY in it. If I break it and do affirmations or Holme's version of prayer mixed with affirmation (affirmative prayer) I get out of it and steadily advance. Why do I suggest you get and read, re-read and TRAVEL WITH this book? A few reasons:1. It's only 84 pages long.2. He clearly provided the foundation for the views of many motivational, self-help folks who would follow. If, despite where you are now, you think success and plenty, you'll find yourself headed in that direction. "Whatever we think is the pattern and mind is the builder," he writes. "....Know that no matter what others may say, think or do, you are a success, now, and nothing can hinder you from accomplishing your good."5. Whether you want to use a self-help framework or religious framework this profound little book (you will NOT feel cheated; there is no padding!) gives you the CONFIDENCE and HOPE to jump out of bed every day and get down to it...and listen to YOUR OWN encouragement and blot out the negative voices that may surround you and dishearten you. When things may not look great, you can read it and get your thinking back on track. If people say you're destined to fail, Holmes is there to tell you you will NOT and give you a specific framework to tell you why you won't if you don't think you won't. NOTE: I not only read this but I underlined it. Now I'm re-reading my underlinings. Then I'll re-read it again..and I travel with this jewel of a book, keeping it in my carry-on luggage or my overnight bag.

This is one of the first books I read about the mind, I have read other's by this man and they really got me started on other books that have really helped me, I wish I could have been at one of his meetings but of course I wasn't around him back in those days, however, I feel like I was there when I read his books, wish we had more men and women like him. He did start me reading more and more and it is making my life a lot better. I had never heard of this man until the last few years, if I had I am sure my life would have started changing much sooner.

There have been dozens of books telling you that your thoughts create your reality and how to use that to your advantage. This is one of the original such books. The major difference is that because Holmes was inspired as one of the original channels through which this very important information came through, I could fell that his words in this book were highly charged with transformational spiritual energy. I'm not talking of some New Age foo-foo idea. And I'm not talking about religiosity (religion, the bureacracy between God and man!). I'm talking about grounded, very real direct spiritual power. What he offers in this book is the real deal. I have known of this stuff for years. And yet when I read this book, I intentionally approached it with "beginner's mind" as if I've never heard of this stuff before. And as good as my life already was going into this book, applying what Holmes writes has boosted my life to a new level of inner fullness. Buy it, read it, apply it every moment and this will transform your life.

Without a doubt Ernest Holmes writes of his strong belief in the Universal Subconscious Mind, and how we are all part of it, and it there for us to use. He weaves his references to God in parallel to this force, and suggests that they are one and the same. I have always agreed with this. For those skeptical of any religious reference, this is a great book to set your mind on a path that will set you free without the confines of doctrine. Enjoy. Be open. Above all else have faith and accept that you are never alone. Great reading for your experimental life.

"What scares you Jalen? Death, said Jalen,... because I can't imagine a world without me in it." The cockiness that was the Fab Five is captured perfectly by Mitch Albom in his book the Fab Five; Basketball, Trash Talk and the American Dream. Like Albom's other books Tuesdays with Morrie and 5 People You Meet in Heaven, his story telling engulfs the reader and transforms a normal story into a legendary tale. Albom recognizes the important interaction between people in their actions and conversations and captures that in his writing. This story, the Fab Five, was a great book and one of the best for any sports fan. The "Greatest Class Ever Recruited", as Albom called them, is a great story that is told from behind the scenes, during the Fab Five's historic career at the University of Michigan. The Fab Five by Albom is the finest sports book because Albom's humorous and stylish writing brings to life the events surrounding five freshmen that transformed college basketball. The Fab Five is a book about Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson, the fabulous five freshmen at the University of Michigan. A group assembled in many different ways, each contributing a unique story to what brought them to Ann Arbor. Albom takes his first few chapters describing the intricate lines that connected each player to Ann Arbor. Jalen and Chris were from Detroit and went to UofM because they were always best friends. Ray Jackson and Jimmy King are from Texas. Ray Jackson was noticed accidentally while scouts were in Texas recruiting other players. For Jimmy King, he came to UofM because Juwan Howard, his roommate on a recruiting trip, was going. And to put it all together, Juwan became a Michigan Wolverine because his recently diseased grandmother wanted him to go to UofM. Together they became the Fab Five and marched their way on campus and took the college basketball world by storm making it to back-to-back NCAA men's national championship appearances. The caliber of talent that sounds this book is one for the history books. However, the Fab Five would not be the book it was without the writing and story telling ability of Mitch Albom. Albom has been voted the number one sports writer an unprecedented seven times by the Associated Press Sports Editors. He has hosted a TV show on ESPN and written many famous books as well as a sports column for the "Detroit Free Press". His ability to touch every reader regardless of background is rare. He makes people cry reading Tuesdays with Morrie and people stand up in cheer for the `91 Michigan basketball team in the Fab Five. Undoubtedly, Albom is one of the best writers in American and is writing about one of the best sports teams America has ever witnessed. Albom accurately describes the sequence of events leading five high school seniors to main-stream college freshman superstars. But one of the things that makes this story one for the ages is that while on many teams today it is rare to see two freshmen starting a game, in 1991 the Fab Five were five freshman players who all started on a team that made it to the NCAA men's Championship basketball game. Having five freshman start a national championship game is unheard of and still to this day, unmatched. Albom predicts, "There will never be another group like the Fab Five." Through what brought them to Michigan, through every behind the scenes event, through every exciting and electrifying game, this book comes to life in front of the readers' eyes. As the book progresses the plot thickens for these young athletes as if Albom himself wrote the story. Every big game and tournament game was commentated as if live from the radio. Albom writes, "And with 21 seconds left, Michigan lead by just a basket, 71-69. `No three-point-shots,' fisher yelled." The games brought a sense of involvement for the reader taking them back in time to the game. With writing style that is clear and descriptive, and while combined with the dazzling games provided by the Michigan Basketball team, this leads to a suspenseful, well illustrated book that makes the heart pump and adrenaline rush. While watching the suspenseful games, Albom knew greatness at the very moment it happened and was there to preserve ever moment of history in his book; a book about kids who became "The Greatest Class Ever Recruited." They had become the most popular names and faces in college basketball. In Ann Arbor, they sold jerseys and shorts for a hundred and fifty dollars total; "They sold out in a heartbeat," Albom wrote. Stories like these make this book different than any other sports book, a book written while the events occurred with detailed stories nobody else could get. He also wrote about that one game they all walked onto the court with their fashionably baggy shorts, black socks and black shoes revolutionizing college basketball, and he was there to catch every story and detail. Black socks, black shoes and baggy shorts all surprised people watching college basketball. Later looking back, people would contribute these five freshmen as revolutionizing basketball and creating its image today. Albom knew this and felt it was necessary to capture their uniqueness in this book. Mitch Albom, like the rest of the world knew greatness while it was happening and the passion and enthusiasm that he wrote with to illustrate that greatness he was witnessing is another example of why this book is so fabulous. Albom also included inside stories, taking the reader to a place only a few were able to see. Inside the games, inside the practices and inside the family that was the Fab Five. When Jalen walked in the first day as a freshman and announced, "Freshmen verse ya'll," everyone in the gym was stunned. Where most freshmen come in to find themselves at the bottom of the barrel, these freshmen came in and ran right to the top. After saying, "Freshmen verse ya'll," the five freshman went on to win three scrimmages against the upper classmen. Albom wrote, "The Fab Five has been born." While many people could watch the televised games and see for themselves the spectacle surrounding these freshmen, he took this audience backstage and incorporated these stories that give the reader more than they could otherwise see. Stories about crazy pranks to trash talking rants and bizarre interviews to the baggy shorts and black socks and shoes, is why Fab Five gives the reader more than a sports book. It gives the reader a legendary, and even though no previous knowledge is necessary a substantial amount of time is essential because putting the book down once the readers starts if difficult. The Fab Five is a humorous, entertaining and well written book, but furthermore, it is an inside look at one of the greatest college basketball stories. Mitch Albom, as one of America's most heralded writers, gives one of his best writing performances for his perfectly illustrated, historical tale of "The Greatest Recruiting Class Ever." He captivated my attention and sparked my interest in Michigan Basketball because of his urban style humor and story telling ability. While most other historical accounts tend to be boring, Mitch Albom captivates his readers and provides one of the best books about sports; a must read for any sports fan. Albom quoted Jalen Rose, "they'll be talking about us for 20 years." This is true about the Fab Five and the Fab Five will be talked about for many years to come

Gift for someone else. There was a sticker on back that even with carefully taken off tore off part of the cover. It did not come with the cover as you see in this picture. It was just a blue board book with no cover. It was Fab Five inside and she did add to her collection. I wished it had the cover.

I love the book, which reminds me of when I was little watching the Fab Five play. When read right before and after watching the documentary, it makes it even better. The thing that irks me is the tone of the old, white sportswriter (I know, Albom is more than a sportswriter now) portraying inner-city life and in-game trash talk. It makes me cringe and there isn't a page that goes by without that feeling. It made this book very hard to finish, but it's worth powering through.

As a man who went to college during the fab five era, it was a cool read, and walk down memory lane of a time when I couldn't trade in my basketball short shorts, for a pair of the fab five long baggy shorts fast enough, these 5 kids really did touch and change the worlds of so many people!!! This is a well written book that really engulfs the reader, highly recommended! Especially if you are a Michigan fan!

Loved the ESPN movie and have watched it over and over. Surprisingly, the book is way better! A very detailed and close look at the Fab Five (and their teammates) and Coach Fisher personally. A must-have for any Michigan fan.

Mitch Albom does it again! A fantastic insight into the group that changed basketball to what it is today (for good or bad according to some). I have been waiting to read this for nearly 20 years since it came out, and finally got the chance and bought it. No disappointment, and reading this much later, it was a wonderful stroll down memory lane. Mitch paints a picture that allows you to visualize all the details. You always watched them and either loved or hated their brash attitudes, but you cannot deny their impact. Now know what went on behind the scenes. Thanks Mitch, keep up the good work.

One of the best books I've ever read, check out the ESPN 30 for 30 about the Fab Five, this goes more in depth but the documentary is very good as well and features Mitch Albom.

About the Author

Julia Cook was born and raised in Salt Lake City Utah. While living in Utah, she became actively involved in teaching children how to ski. That experience led to a love of teaching in general. Julia now lives in Fremont, Nebraska and has a Masters degree in Elementary School Counseling. While serving as a guidance counselor, she often used childrens books to enhance her classroom lessons. Julia is now a nationally recognized award-winning childrens book author who has written more than a dozen books on behavior and health for children as well as several activity books for teachers. Julia Cook does it again! She has a unique way of explaining difficult concepts on an understandable and relatable level.

Since my 5 and 7 year-old grandsons have trouble managing their anger, I bought this along with a few other books. This was my least favorite BEFORE I read it to the kids. I thought it looked dumb, which shows how much I know. The boys absolutely adore this book, especially the illustrations, and wanted it read to them every night. They identified with Lester and the book made them think. They memorized the 'soda pop head song' after two readings, and if one of them has an angry outburst, chanting that song to him makes him laugh. Then we can discuss Lester and how he is managing his anger in a positive, non-confrontational way. In short, this book has been unexpectedly helpful. I am glad we found it before our little redhead starts kindergarten!

As a Speech Language Pathologist, I am always looking for books that can address social skills. Julia Cook is one of the best authors I have discovered. She always features characters that my students can relate to and scenarios that have humor. Soda Pop head addresses having a quick, explosive temper and how that can impact friendships.

I purchased this book to use in an anger control group with 2nd and 3rd graders. I am excited to share this story with my students! It is very relatable, as kids are often faced with unfair situations. It does a nice job of addressing that sometimes life just isn't fair, but that kids still get to choose how to react in unfair situations. I love that they included calm down strategies for home and school, which will tie in nicely with the rest of our group activities.

This book was recommended to us because our 7-year old daughter had a short fuse and would yell and hit when she was frustrated. What was funny is while we read the book, my daughter said..."Dad, this book is about you!!". Well, lets say we both now learned to control our "Soda-Pop-Heads".

This is my favorite all time book for social lessons.

Kind of long winded but I like the concept. Was difficult for my 6 year old to remain attentive and admittedly even I was getting a bit bored with it. It's difficult to find children's books that cover such a range of topics that affect them so we have many from Ms. Cook but this is not a favorite.

Excellent book for kids that easily get upset or lose their temper.

Good story, just be sure to read the whole book before you read it with your kids as there may be something surprising in there depending on the grade level of the kid.
