I’ve been in Corporate America for the last twenty years in various sales roles in the technology industry and recently decided it was time for a change. After reviewing several books available on the franchise industry, I bought The Educated Franchisee 3rd Edition. If you’ve never had exposure to the franchising opportunity, Rick’s book walks readers step by step thru a very logical and easy to understand due diligence process to assist the reader in sizing up a franchisor. Of equal importance, Rick has several self-discovery chapters that were instrumental in describing the human traits needed to achieve success in franchising. Two months after purchasing The Educated Franchisee, with Rick working as our coach, we signed a franchise agreement and are working on the initial stages of deployment.
My husband and I are exploring franchise opportunities, and I read this book to get insight into the world of franchising. I highly recommend it!!! It lays a great foundation with a very holistic approach. Bisio talks about the personality traits of a successful franchisee, the pros/cons of being a business owner, how to approach the process, and how to choose the right franchise. When we did start the process, we were already 5 steps ahead, as a result of this book. And, best of all, I reached out to Rick Bisio directly to ask a question, and he scheduled a call with me. Very impressive!
Rick Bisio’s no nonsense approach is exceptional. The facts and specifics are what I appreciated most about this extremely helpful guide to exploring the franchise option. The book was highly recommended by a franchise coach, and from the beginning I understood why. Furthermore, the fact that one must still think for one’s self is stressed. The book isn’t, “a guaranteed success†formula. It reminded me all the more that we, the franchisee, are the true success formula. It takes a good logical understanding, sticking to the proven system, discipline, humility, and a whole lot of sweat equity/hard work to be successful at this endeavor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK for the aspiring franchisee.

I had been a sole trader for 11 years, and felt like I was in a rut. I was going through the motions year after year. I had a good business but I wasn't challenged anymore. I didn't have any new business ideas and felt that starting a new business as a sole trader was a risk that I did not want to take. I purchased the Educated Franchisee book. For the first time I realized the person Rick was describing in the book was me. I had always thought that franchising was a dirty word. When I read Ricks book I realized how wrong I was and I finally felt like I had found my new path. I wanted to be a franchisee and benefit from the support and proven system of a franchise. As a single parent with full time care of my son I seek the reduced risk of business as a franchisee. I have had multiple meets with frachisors since reading the book, and the feedback I have received from the franchisor has been very positive. During meets I can demonstrate that I understand how the franchise relationship works, which places me at an advantage compared with people who have not read the book. I am currently searching opportunities and hope to find the right one soon. This book has helped me enormously and directed me in the right path.

I bought this book with the vague notion that I wanted to own a business some day. But, as I started reading I found myself getting excited about the prospect of becoming a franchisee. The book is very well written and is an excellent resource for anyone considering going into business as a franchisee. It provides a roadmap to navigate the process of investigating different franchisors, evaluating the attributes of different companies, and deciding on a franchise to pursue.After reading the book three times (just to make sure I really understood the process) I contacted Rick about his franchise coaching services. We worked together over several weeks and now, four months after buying the book, my wife and I are franchisees. Rick's advice, both in the book and through his coaching services, is second to none. I highly recommend this book and Rick's coaching services to anyone considering becoming a franchisee.
