I'm having a hard time rating this because the copy we received had huge errors all throughout with the ink. As in, the ink was so faded on numerous pages that you could barely see anything let alone read the content. Sadly this is the third book in this omnibus (7-9) that we have encountered with this problem. This was returned but I am starting to question the quality control being used in the printing of these volumes and wondering if we will ever find one that is readable all the way through.So, while this is a good series, I am giving this book a very neutral three stars do to quality control and printing issues with not just this one but two other books as well. Very sad to see this happen from this company.
I should preface this review by saying that I love the Fullmetal Alchemist anime (both of them) so I couldn't wait to try out the manga. Yeah, I know I should have read the book first before the anime but what's a girl to do? Moving on. I already knew what was coming in the story, so it's a little harder to review because my initial reaction was to the anime rather than the manga. That said, I've loved the manga series thus far and this has been my favorite volume of the three in ones. The story picks up in these volumes and the reader is pulled into the twists and turns of the series. I love that you get to see a deeper and darker side of Roy Mustang in this volume. I thought I was prepared for what was coming in this one but I was really taken by surprised the way that the feels came with this volume versus the other ones. Not that the other ones weren't good but this one really seemed above all the others in the emotion department which made me like it all that much more. Plus you start seeing the bigger, overarching story and the depth of the political maneuvering that are taking place. Definitely a great continuation in an already great story.
There was TREMENDOUS overlap (i.e. hardly any difference) between the hard copy of volume 2 and the paperback of Volume 3. I do not know if I got a rip-off copy of volume 3, but according to my son this is a total rip off.
I'm a huge fan of the original anime, but wasn't as much into Brotherhood.This is where the two start to diverge, so I'll be stopping here.Still a great manga though!
Loving these re releases.... I have the entire first run of this manga... when I heard they were releasing them in hardback form I couldn't resist. One of my all time favorite manga <3 Amazon did a wonderful job shipping this too. Would recommend!
My son's favorite Christmas gift!! You should have seen the look on his face. He loves anything anime, and this is his favorite. He read the entire first 3 books within a couple days. Now I need to go buy some more for Easter. I am definitely glad I bought these.
Very nice quality printing. Definitely worth replacing paperback versions with these, and the coloring on the covers looks great.
This is a tale of suffering and redemption. A beautiful story of two brothers who refuse to give up in spite of everything life has put them through. It is a wonderful story. A tear jerker. A heart warmer. An inspiration. I loved it. The manga is a bit different than the anime. To get the whole picture i recommend getting the blu-ray anime sets along with the manga. Get FMA and FMA Brotherhood as soon as you can. You wont be sorry.
